Unsurprisingly, spring and summer are the most popular times to visit this famous landmark. However, if you choose to venture to the Grand Canyon in the winter, you'll enjoy added perks like fewer tourists and maybe even a dusting of snow.

If you plan on hiking to the bottom of the canyon, be sure to plan ahead. In addition to wearing the correct gear and bringing plenty of water, you'll probably want to reserve at least one night at Phantom Ranch, the only accommodation at the bottom of the canyon.

Travel to the eastern edge of the canyon and you can explore the Desert View Watchtower, which was built by Mary Colter in 1932. Inside, local artists have decorated the walls with murals and petroglyphs.

The Hopi House is another structure designed by Mary Colter. Inside this recreation of a Hopi pueblo, visitors will find rugs, jewelry, and other handmade gifts from local artists. It's also a wonderful place to learn about local tradition.

When it comes to visiting the Grand Canyon, preparation is key. It doesn't hurt to plan your trip well over a year in advance. While this may sound crazy, it'll give you plenty of time to get ready for your unforgettable adventure.
