From the mountain ranges to the canyons, valleys, and coasts, America is chock-full of gorgeous natural sites. One such place is tucked away in the Great Salt Lake and appears like something from a fairytale. This man-made beauty fits into the landscape so well that spectators are constantly in awe of its existence. Here’s more on the Spiral Jetty, an iconic sculpture dating back to the 1970s.

Though it looks like a structure that could have been made by aliens, the iconic Spiral Jetty has existed since 1970, when it was created by Robert Smithson.

While the structure is man-made, the materials used in this masterpiece are not. Smithson used salt crystals, mud, and basalt rocks.

The spiral is situated on the northeastern shore of the Great Salt Lake at Rozel Point and measures an impressive 15 feet wide and 1,500 feet long.

Depending on the level of rainfall, the Spiral Jetty may or may not be visible. For the past decade, the sculpture has remained visible.

It's no mystery why this bizarre yet undoubtedly beautiful attraction has attracted visitors from around the globe.
