Alaska’s Dalton Highway is one of the country’s loneliest roads. Primarily used as a route for ice-road truckers to ferry goods to the most remote corners of the state, it’s actually a supremely gorgeous path through the wilderness.

With over 240 miles of unbroken road, the highway reaches all the way to the Arctic Ocean and the top of the continent.

Along the way, you’ll pass lush stands of towering trees and snowy plains that seem to stretch into infinity. Drivers will traverse vast mountain ranges and pass through Alaska’s famed boreal forests on the way to the top of the world.
