The Beautiful Hilltop Hike That Will Lead You Straight To A Spectacular View

Pyramid Point is a stunning spot located in Michigan’s Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The lakeshore a quick drive from Glen Arbor and one of the most beautiful regions in the state. If you feel like spending an afternoon soaking up some natural beauty with minimal effort, a hike to Pyramid Point is just the thing.

Tackling this hilltop hike is easy. First, drive to the Pyramid Point trailhead parking lot and leave your vehicle. There are usually plenty of spaces, but you might want to arrive early on weekends or holidays. Next, head out along the clearly marked path towards Pyramid Point. The terrain is mostly smooth and the path is bordered by beautiful vegetation, trees, dune grass, and wildflowers. Kids and pets can easily handle this walk, though you should wear sturdy shoes and take a water bottle along.

When you finally reach Pyramid Point, you’ll be blown away. The blue waters of Lake Michigan seem to extend right to the edge of the world and you’ll feel as if you’ve summited a mountaintop.

It’s the perfect place to settle in for a picnic or snap a few photos, but be careful not to get too close to the edge – the dunes can shift and it’s easy to slide down towards the lake if you’re not careful. The dune-top overlook sits about 0.6 miles from the parking lot, but many people choose to wander the entire 2.7-mile loop after taking in the view.
