Uh Oh… Here’s The Drunkest City In America

The city of Green Bay is no stranger to football titles. However, the Wisconsin metropolis is also known for something else. USA Today released its annual report on the drunkest and driest cities in America and Green Bay placed at No. 1.

“The heaviest drinking metro area in the heaviest drinking state, Green Bay, Wis., has the highest excessive drinking rate of any U.S. metro area. Some 26.5% of adults in Green Bay drink excessively,” according to USA Today.

Furthermore, out of the 20 drunkest cities in America, 10 are in Wisconsin. Green Bay, Eau Claire, Appleton, and Madison are the top four most inebriated cities, according to this study.

For comparison, the 18.0 percent of adults nationwide report drinking excessively. Green Bay is also one of only five metro areas nationwide where alcohol was a factor in more than half of all driving fatalities.

Those are sobering statistics. However, Green Bay is also known for its craft beer scene, so don’t except this chilly city to skip happy hour just yet.
