This 469-Mile Road May Be The Best Drive In America For Taking Beautiful Photos

Shutterbugs take note: this gorgeous drive may be the most photogenic in America.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a national parkway that winds through the southern Appalachian Mountains. It’s almost 469 miles long and practically every view you’ll see outside your car window is photo-worthy.

Though cruising down road itself may be the best way to take in as much of the area’s splendor as possible, hopping out of your car almost anywhere on the Blue Ridge Parkway provides fantastic opportunities to hike, picnic, camp, watch wildlife or just sit back and soak up some serious natural beauty.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! If you’re looking for one of the best photo-ops along the way, stop by Linville Falls. The 100-foot waterfall drops nearly 2,000 feet over the course of its 12 mile journey through Linville Gorge. You should also consider making time to explore Graveyard Fields, which includes three dazzling cascades. You don’t even have to step foot out of your car to see the stunning Second Falls: simply park at the overlook just off the road near Milepost 318.
