2. Hermann’s Bakery (317 S Main St, Royal Oak)
Head to Royal Oak to grab a paczki or two at this charming bake shop, which is open from 9 AM until 6 PM on Tuesday. Everything at Hermann’s is made from scratch, including their mouthwatering paczki selection! For those who don't live close to Hamtramck, Hermann’s Bakery is an ideal spot to satisfy your most indulgent Fat Tuesday cravings.
3. Dutch Girl Donuts (19000 Woodward Ave, Detroit)
This popular bakery is another spot where you can expect to wait in line to grab your paczki order, but your stomach will thank you. Dutch Girl produces row after row of these classic Polish treats, thickly glazed and fried to the perfect crispness. Whether you’re craving strawberry, lemon, or another fruity flavor, you’ll find it here. Unfortunately, Dutch Girl does not accept pre-orders for Fat Tuesday, so you’ll want to arrive early to snag a spot in line!
4. GM Paris Bakery (28418 Joy Road, Livonia)
Carry on the beloved Polish paczki tradition with a visit to Livonia’s Paris Bakery, which prides itself on the production and sale of these delicious treats. Choose from custard, blueberry, apple, lemon, prune, or raspberry flavors — talk about a delectable selection. Grab a single paczki for just two dollars, or a whole dozen for $19! Our mouths are watering just thinking about it.
5. Bartz Bakery (1532 N Telegraph Rd, Dearborn)
Next on your tour is Bartz Bakery, where you’ll find a friendly staff and a full range of paczki flavors to choose from. If you’re an early bird, Bartz should be at the top of your list: they open daily at 5:30 AM, so you can even stop in before work to grab a box of your favorite Polish pastries for your coworkers. You’ll certainly be the star of the office.
6. La Rosa Bakery (5401 Proctor St, Detroit)
When it comes to Paczki Day, prepare to wait in a bit of a line at La Rosa Bakery. But there’s a good reason for the popularity of this Detroit sweet shop, as its freshness is second to none. Don’t let the building’s modest decor fool you: your taste buds will soon be drowning in perfect deep-fried flavor.
7. Bon Bon Bon (2756 Evaline St, Hamtramck)
This sweet shop in Hamtramck is primarily known for its deluxe chocolates, but it also serves up a magical array of options on Fat Tuesday. You can grab a "packzki bon" or simply try a more classic sweet treat from the eatery’s enchantingly delicious menu. Bon Bon Bon is typically closed on Tuesdays, but as a Hamtramck fixture, it makes an exception for Paczki Day.
