New Jersey's shore towns are famous; it's almost impossible that a long-time resident hasn't heard of one's existence. However, some do get more attention than others. Our most popular beach destinations include Long Branch, Belmar, Asbury Park, Point Pleasant Beach, Seaside Heights, all of LBI, Atlantic City, Ocean City, Wildwood and Cape May. However, there are some shore towns that are a bit less touristy. One such little town is situated just south of Sandy Hook.
Sea Bright is a 1.28 square mile Monmouth County town, home to about 1,400 residents.
You'll find Highlands to the north, Rumson to the west and Monmouth Beach to the south. This town took on significant damage during Sandy but has recovered beautifully.
Sea Bright may not have a boardwalk lined with arcades or charming Victorian architecture and quaint shops, but it's still worth a visit.
A stroll down Ocean Avenue will take you through Foodie Heaven. You'll find all sorts of dining options including Melonhead - an all-natural juice, smoothie and acai bowl bar that delivers to the beach!
Speaking of beaches, this is a great place to get in the water. There are several private beach clubs in Sea Bright, along with a lifeguarded public beach.
But it's truly the food that makes this town shine. GiGi's New York Style Pizza is another favorite. In addition to a variety of pies, they offer a full menu of Italian dishes and desserts.
For brunch, beer or game night, head to Rory's Pub. They offer outdoor seating and live Irish music on Sunday nights.
If you're craving Southwest-style eats, head to Woody's Ocean Grille for tacos, tostadas and more. Visit on Tuesday for Baja Night - choose from burgers, sliders or tacos and pair with an orange crush or glass of wine for $15. They've also got a sizable selection of affordable lobster dishes.
DIVE! Coastal Bar is a great spot for comfort food classics and creative dishes alike. You'll find everything from wings to delicious dessert empanadas. There's karaoke on Thursdays and live music on Saturday nights.
Anjelica's is a top-rated spot for Southern Italian cuisine and seafood. Feel free to BYOB.
Last, but not least, head to Gracie And The Dudes for a frozen treat. There are no artificial colors or flavors in their delicious homemade ice cream - there's no High Fructose Corn Syrup, either. Note that this photo was snapped pre-Sandy.
If you love good food and beautiful beaches; Sea Bright is a wonderful destination. Diners should come hungry, and they are sure to leave happy. What's your favorite restaurant in Sea Bright? For more of the best Jersey Shore restaurants, click here.
