10 miles north of Berlin, New Hampshire, up on a hilltop, there's a local getaway that offers not only a cozy night's stay in a yurt, but lots of activities to occupy any traveler during their time there.
Milan Hill State Park is a beautiful place full of wonder and mystique.
The lush green woods surrounding the park are full of adventure, spanning a sizeable 102 acres. Established in 1939, Milan Hill has long served those in New Hampshire looking to get away from it all.
The sunsets and sunrises here are breathtaking, and the numerous trails all over the park allow one to see from different vantage points.
Among the activities possible at Milan Hill are hiking, fishing, boating and kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.
Scattered around the park are gorgeous yurts, which serve as a roof over one's head and a warm place to sleep.
The yurts are "primitive" campsites, however, and it should be noted that there is no water hookup or electricity on-site.
The yurts are furnished with comfortable beds for up to six, and they provide a genuinely earthy experience for visitors.
A new Adirondack shelter was recently installed as well, and it too is available for reservations online.
One can easily become lost among the beautiful and silent trees, which seem to go on forever.
The entire experience here is one of comfort and peace. It is an ideal place for meditation and thought.
Amazingly, one can see distant mountain ranges in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and even southern Canada from the park.
We strongly recommend that visitors bring a camera or two, and lots of memory cards. The Milan Hill State Park is ridiculously photogenic through and through.
During the winter, the park offers more than nine miles of maintained Nordic ski trails.
A visit to Milan Hill State Park is sure to thrill even the most seasoned of travelers. It's a place worthy of an entire trip all to itself!
