In terms of great beaches, Mississippi is definitely not lacking. Not only does that state’s southern coast border the Gulf of Mexico, but coastal residents also have access to several barrier islands, which are perfect for beach-day getaways. However, just because these are the most popular, it doesn’t mean they’re the best beaches in Mississippi. In fact, there are some pretty incredible hidden beaches in Mississippi that are perfect for cooling off during the hot days of summer – and that’s where this road trip comes in.

1. Low Water Bridge
If there were a list of secluded Mississippi beaches, Low Water Bridge would be at the top of it - and that's because it's hidden on the outskirts of the Homochitto National Forest. The secluded swimming spot includes a sand-and-rock-bottom creek and a sandy beach. 2. The Blue Lagoon at Paradise Ranch and Resort
Fed by an artesian well and surrounded by pristine sand, this man-made lagoon is probably the best sandy beach in Mississippi. The 105-acre resort also includes a campground and stocked lake. If you’re not an overnight guest, you’ll have to purchase a day pass to access the Blue Lagoon. It's one of the prettiest secret beaches in Mississippi. 3. Presley’s Outing
This RV and recreational park is a great place for some outdoor fun. From relaxing on the white sand beach to canoeing and kayaking – the options are virtually endless. 4. Pep’s Point
Aside from a lakeside beach, this Hattiesburg water park features several spring-fed slides, canoe and paddleboat rentals, miniature golf, volleyball courts, and a hiking trail. Pep’s Point also includes cabins, RV sites, and a primitive campground, so this is a great place to stay overnight if you’re spreading the road trip out over a couple of days. 5. Yogi on the Lake
Located just outside of Jackson, Yogi on the Lake in Mississippi is the perfect place for a day of fun in the sun. Aside from a white sand beach, you’ll find a swimming pool, splash pad, water slides, miniature golf course, campground, and restaurant. 6. Clearwater Key at Geyser Falls Water Park
Part of the Geyser Falls Water Park, Clearwater Key features eight acres of white sand beaches and a pool filled with crystal clear water. In addition to one of the best beaches in Mississippi, the Caribbean-themed attraction even includes poolside cabanas, a hot tub, and an onsite café, making it ideal for a quick tropical getaway. 7. Lake Tiak-O’khata
Fun for the entire family, Lake Tiak-O’khata is centered around a gorgeous man-made lake and includes a white sand beach, water slides, and volleyball court. There’s also a restaurant and picnic areas, which means you could easily spend the entire day at this hidden gem. Extend your visit by booking a stay in one of the onsite cabins, a room at the lakeside motel, or the RV Park. It's one of the best secret beaches in Mississippi. 8. Old Bridge Beach
When it comes to the beach with the clearest water in Mississippi, Old Bridge Beach is a top contender. Aside from crystal clear water, the beach features a stretch of gorgeous white sand, a playground, a fishing pier, picnic tables, grills, and a volleyball court.

9. Chewalla Lake Recreation Area
