Explore Tim McGraw's hometown of Start, Louisiana, and nearby Delhi, featuring charming small-town attractions and nature spots.

You might be surprised to learn that Louisiana is the birthplace of several famous people. Sure, just about everyone knows that super celebs like Britney Spears and Ellen Degeneres were born here, but few people know that country music legend Tim McGraw was born right here in the Pelican State in the tiny little town that's the perfect town for a day trip. Let's take a look at Tim McGraw's hometown, shall we?

Whether or not you’re a fan of country music, you’ve probably heard of Tim McGraw.

Arguably one of the greatest American country music artists, McGraw has released 16 albums in his career, with 10 of them reaching the number one slot on Top Country Albums. His wife, Faith Hill, is one of the most successful country music artists of all time, selling more than 40 million albums worldwide.

You might be surprised to learn that this country music legend was born right here in Louisiana!

Start, Louisiana is an unincorporated community in Richland Parish that's home to less than 1,000 residents, and it's here that the country music king was born.

Start is a tiny little town just east of Monroe, Louisiana.

Easily accessible via I-20, its safe to say more folks drive through Start than live there.

McGraw was raised in the neighboring town of Dehli, another small town in Richland Parish, though Delhi is slightly larger.

This laid-back town is home to about 3,000 people. While you can't visit Tim McGraw's childhood home or his old stomping grounds, there's still plenty to do in Delhi, and we've got some suggestions on how to make the most of a day trip here.

Delhi is a quiet little town, but don't let that stop you from exploring.

The town is humble and charming, and the downtown area has several boutiques and restaurants to try, but the real adventures are just outside the main drag.

Nature lovers in particular will love visiting Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in Delhi.

The 655-acre state park is a picturesque place with hiking trails, cabin rentals, and great fishing opportunities.

Nestled around the 2,700-acre, man-made reservoir, you might want to bring your rod and reel and see if you can catch a record-breaking largemouth bass or channel catfish.

Or just sit on the dock and watch the sunset. If you want to extend your stay, you can always pitch a tent, bring your RV, or rent a waterfront cabin.

Delhi is also home to Gone Wild Safari, a unique wildlife sanctuary where you can get close to some of the most exotic animals you'll ever see.

Families with kids of all ages will love a day trip here. Between the petting zoo, feeding experiences, and drive-thru safari experience, there's a lot of fun to be had!

At Gone Wild Safari, you can drive your own car straight through the park, feeding the animals right from your window!

And these animals are not shy about asking for feed! From water buffalo to cockatoos, you'll see animals of all shapes and sizes during your visit.

While you're in the area, you may want to visit Poverty Point, a fascinating World Heritage Site that dates back over 3,000 years! Pack up the car and set off on an epic road trip exploring northeastern Louisiana. If you've ever visited Tim McGraw's hometown or any of these attractions, let us know in the comments!
