1. Rayne

This sweet little town is known as the Frog Capital of the World. There are a lot of reasons for this...but perhaps most charming is the sea of frog murals that can be discovered after a walk through the town.

2. Cottonport

This sleepy town along the Red Bayou was established in 1888 and is home of the yearly Cottonport Christmas Festival.

3. Winnsboro

This town in the northeast section of Louisiana is well worth a visit. Winnsboro offers the only hospital in Franklin Parish and many other cultural amenities to the surrounding areas here.

4. Thibodaux

Probably the largest 'town' on this list, Thibodaux is still somewhat hidden despite having an amazing history and some truly gorgeous architecture. Definitely worth the visit and glimpse into cajun culture.

5. Abbeville

Formerly named La Chapelle, Abbeville is centered around Magdalen Square, a finely decorated town center that is the focus of the community's events and meetings. The Catholic Church, pictured here, was originally founded in 1844.

6. Donaldsonville

One of the most historic towns in Louisiana, Donaldsonville is known to have a very fine collection of antebellum architecture.

7. Ferriday

This small town with approximately 3,500 people claims to have produced more famous people per square mile than any other American town. The Delta Music Museum in the historic district profiles many of these artists and musicians, also listed on the sign above.

8. DeQuincy

A small town that loves to remember it's history, DeQuincy is home to the famed Railroad Museum, pictured here. DeQuincy is also home to over 3,000 people and is the northernmost town of Calcasieu Parish.

9. Galliano

This small town in the greater Houma-Thibodaux area sits right on LA-1, with water flowing right along throughout the town, on this former banks of the Mississippi River.

10. Leesville

The Parish seat of Vernon Parish, 6,600 people call this precious town home. Called the 'best home town in the world', Leesville is known for welcoming neighbors and excellent sports programs for the kids.
