The term "Southern" is constantly part of Georgian vocabulary. Between the rich cuisine, the historical architecture, and the kindness and charm of the inhabitants, Georgians sure do represent "Southern" very well. In fact, we found one Georgian town which is so perfectly Southern, it's easy to see why it grew in population 153% over this past ten years.
Newnan, Georgia has a population of just over 41,000 people.
It's the type of town where you feel like you’ve stepped back into a state history book.
With the rich, old architectural details throughout town, nearly every corner is perfectly picturesque.
Even the quaint homes that Newnan holds makes the nickname "City of Homes," perfectly charming in every way.
Established in 1828, Newnan still features the historical antebellum architecture from centuries ago.
But also the Main Street in Newnan, Georgia just oozes Southern charm and style.
With Farmers Markets on weekends, and seasonal festivals, it's hard not to love this town.
Of course, every perfectly Southern town has an incredible barbecue spot.
We're talking slow roasted, tangy, succulent, people-come-from-all-over-to-eat-at Sprayberry's Pit Barbecue.
But then you have other town hot spots like Redneck Gourmet, which features delicious home-style Southern cooking and deli food.
Also in the heart of the town is Dunaway Gardens, a magical rock and floral garden, which is the perfect spot to take a moment and slow down like true Southerners do.
With rocking chairs on the front porch, and neighbors shouting "Hey, ya'll!," it's hard not to visit Newnan more than once.
