This New Passenger Airplane Can Take Off Almost Vertically

If you’re a nervous flyer, you might not want to book a ticket aboard the new Airbus A350.

This unique passenger plane boasts one of the most exciting (slash terrifying) abilities around – it can perform a nearly vertical take-off. In less than five seconds, the plane can go from flat on the runway to shooting off into the sky, rocket-style. It’s truly an incredible sight.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

If that sounds like a bit too much of a rollercoaster ride for you and your stomach, no worries. Though the A350 is a passenger plane, it almost never performs this kind of aeronautical stunt with people in the cabin.

Furthermore, there actually aren’t many of these planes in the United States yet. Delta became the first domestic airline to acquire some of these nifty new vessels in 2017 and is planning on introducing the A350 on the routes from Detroit, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.
