One East Coast Airport Is Getting A Restaurant Inside A Real Plane

Airplane food isn’t something most of us look forward to. However, this East Coast airline may be about to change our minds – it’s introducing an entire restaurant housed inside a real vintage plane.

The TWA Hotel at New York’s JFK Airport is currently under construction and will involve a full restoration of the airport’s shuttered Trans World Airlines terminal. The terminal is being refitted to look just like it did in 1962, which many call the height of the “Golden Age of Travel.”

In addition to a swanky new hotel, the new terminal is getting a restaurant built right into an old Lockheed Constellation plane. It’s one of only four Starliner models left on Earth and will be transformed into a trendy eatery and cocktail bar for hotel guests and the general public.
According to the restaurant’s designers, stepping into the refurbished plane will feel like stepping back in time.

“We’re recreating 1962,” MCR Development CEO Tyler Morse explained to The Points Guy. “It’s going to be a full theatrical experience down to the uniforms, gift bags and the food that we serve.”

The TWA Hotel at JFK will open in the spring of 2019 and is sure to bring all sorts of retro charm.
