Southwest Airlines Is Increasing Their Early Boarding Fees For Certain Flights
This month we talked about you how don’t have to worry about Southwest Airlines getting rid of its open-seating policy. While some policies may be remaining the same, the country’s largest domestic carrier did announce recently that one of its longtime programs will be seeing some new price increases. Are you a fan of using Southwest Airlines’ EarlyBird Check-In? Then you’ll want to read about its upcoming price changes.

Southwest Airlines has announced that it will be increasing the price of its EarlyBird Check-In fees on certain flights. If you’re unfamiliar with Southwest’s program, the EarlyBird Check-In program allows passengers to pay a fee in order to get a better boarding number for the airline’s open-seating layout.
While Southwest has yet to announce which routes will see an increase, the company has said that the length of the flight and the popularity of using the EarlyBird Check-In program on routes will determine the new prices. When the program began back in 2009 it cost passengers only $12.50 each way, but as of 2016 Southwest increased the price to $15 dollars each way. Beginning on August 29th, 2018, EarlyBird Check-In will cost fliers either $15, 20, or 25 dollars each way.
