These 4 U.S. Airlines Have Just Been Named Among The Safest In The World

Four U.S. airlines were just named among the safest in the world.

Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Virgin America and JetBlue all got top marks on the annual safety rankings published by AirlineRatings.com. JetBlue is the only budget airline to make the list.

Unfortunately, two heavyweight U.S. airlines didn’t make the list this year. Delta and United were not tanked amongst the top 20 safest airlines in the world according to the website, which evaluated 409 airlines for their crash reports, operational history, inspection reports and fleet age.

So who didn’t make the cut? Luckily no U.S. airlines were rated one star, but airlines like North Korea’s Air Koryo, Tara Air, Nepal Airlines and Indonesia’s Trigana Air Service received the lowest safety rankings.

The age of a plane has a lot to do with its safety. If you’ve ever wondered where airplanes go after they’re retired from service, check out this surreal plane boneyard hidden in an American desert.
