Providence Canyon can be accessed via admission to Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area, which sits within Georgia’s Stewart County. Surprisingly, the canyon formation that exists here is not solely natural - in fact, some of the ridges came about as a result of erosion during the 1800s.
In total, the park features just over one thousand acres of land to explore, leaving visitors with a seemingly endless array of activities to select from. Whether you’re a fan of nature photography, simple strolls, romantic picnics, or something in between, you’ll fall in love with this state park in no time.
At the heart of the recreational area, of course, is Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon” itself. If you want to get up-close and personal with this awesome spot, you’ll find a variety of trails that allow access to sectors of the canyon. These hikes range in difficulty, so there’s an option for every visitor to explore.
Pose for a few family pictures from atop the canyon, learn more by checking out the on-site visitors’ center, or enjoy the scenery from a pre-established outlook. While it might not have the depth, width, or overall grandeur of the more famous Grand Canyon, Providence Canyon will take you on an unforgettable natural outing.
