The Price Of Drinks On American Airlines Is About To Jump

We all know that the price of food and beverages on planes is already astronomical. Despite this, American Airlines will soon increase the cost of their alcoholic offerings.

As of October 1, 2018, American Airlines passengers will be required to pay $8 for a beer, $9 for a glass of wine, and $9 for a serving of spirits. That’s a $1 price increase across the board.

During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.

In a statement to The Points Guy, the carrier explained that the new prices reflect increased quality and variety: “Over the last few years, we’ve continued to improve the selections available on board with more craft beer choices, premium liquor, and new wines.”

Though $8 for a beer isn’t unheard of in some city bars or craft breweries, it’s a steep price to pay for a bit of mid-flight refreshment. American has pointed out that passengers sitting in Main Cabin Extra and Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey customers will still get free beer, wine, and spirits.
