In recent years, more and more American have been relocating to cities. This has led many small towns to offer tempting perks to prospective new residents such as free land and student loan aid.
However, some larger U.S. cities are also trying to lure new residents to their neighborhoods – they’re actually paying people to move there.
If you’re looking to build a single-family home, build it in Curtis: the town will give you a free plot of land if you build within a certain timeframe. The land will be in one of two (beautiful) rural areas.
Yep, Baltimore is actually paying people to move there. The "Buying Into Baltimore" program will give you a $5,000 forgivable five-year loan. The "Vacants to Value Booster" program will grant you $10,000 for a down payment. The catch? You have to buy a property that is considered "distressed" or "formerly distressed."
Marne is under an hour’s drive from Omaha. If you move there, the town will give you at least 1,200 square feet of free land to build on.
This state is packed with programs aimed at encouraging people to move there. Whether you’re a veteran, physically or mentally disabled, or looking to build an energy-efficient home, prospective residents have plenty of perks to choose from.
New Haven incentivizes moving there buy offering a combined total of $80,000 in aid and program benefits, such as $30,000 of renovation assistance and $40,000 towards college payments.
This town is located in one of the state’s least populated counties. Tribune is offering to pay up to $15,000 of student loan debt over five years in order to attract younger people.
Colorado offers a program to help people with permanent disabilities finance their first home. Plus, if you can offer up to 4 percent of your first mortgage as a down payment, you’ll get downpayment assistance with no repayment necessary.
Harmony will give new homebuilders a cash rebate on the market value of the completed house. Rebates typically range between $5,000 and $12,000 and there are no age or income restrictions.
This is a great state to consider if you’r into home improvement. The Wyoming Rehabilitation & Acquisition Program turns foreclosed homes and abandoned houses into refurbished homes for low-income households. The state also offers aid to people needing more than $15,000 to remodel older homes.
