Gas Prices In America Have Plummeted Just In Time For Holiday Travel

Forget sugarplums and iPads – the best holiday gift many Americans could receive is rock-bottom gas prices. And this year, it seems like we’ve gotten our wish.

According to AAA, gas prices have now dropped to below $2 at 1 in 5 U.S. gas stations. The national average on Tuesday was just $2.37.

Unfortunately, folks in California aren’t getting as lucky at the pump. AAA reports that prices there are still averaging above $3 per gallon.

The falling price of oil and increased global oil production has led to this sharp decrease in price, which AAA estimates has saved Americans about $225 million per day collectively since the most recent drop.

Sounds like we now have no excuses for not piling everyone in the car and going to visit grandma for the holidays.
