Your Hotel Could Soon Give You A Free Smartphone To Use During Your Stay
These days, it seems like cell phones are more and more of a necessity rather than a luxury. This hotel in New York City may be one of the first to make sure guests are constantly connected by passing out free smartphones.
The NoMo SoHo Hotel in New York City is now participating in a service called Handy, which provides guests with a smartphone that they can use for free international phone calls, comes with mobile data, and can even handle room-to-room calling.
The service has been widespread in Europe and Asia for years, but the NoMo SoHo Hotel is the first U.S. property to participate. Other U.S. hotels could soon follow suit.

They are also loaded with a free data plan, a one-time local phone number, the ability to download apps and contacts, and connectivity to the hotel and hotel services at all times.

Guests’ personal data is auto-erased upon check-out, so you don’t have to worry about a stranger flicking through your vacation pictures.
These phones eliminate the need to get a local SIM card or pay roaming charges, and can be handy even for domestic travelers who don’t want to eat up their own data or risk their own device while exploring a new city.
