American Airlines May No Longer Be The World’s Largest Airline

American Airlines is currently the largest airline in the world. However, a foreign carrier may be about to steal its crown.

The CEO of China Southern Airline says he wants to quadruple the carrier’s fleet size by 2035. The airline currently has around 786 planes and plans to have 1,000 by 2020.

American Airlines has around 948 planes and is the world’s largest airline in terms of fleet size, revenue, and destinations served.

If China Southern Airline sticks to its plan, it will easily outpace American Airlines by 2020. Many other Chinese carriers are also experiencing growth due to a rising number of Chinese citizens traveling abroad.
