Alaska Airlines Is Now Selling Affordable Basic Economy Tickets

One U.S. airline is making it even easier to take that dream vacation you’ve been planning.

Alaska Airlines has started selling basic economy tickets. The carrier is calling them Saver Fares and will be offering these affordable tickets for travel beginning in January 2019. These new fares look to be about $15-$30 cheaper than current economy fares. The catch? You’ll be giving up perks like free checked bags, in-flight snacks, and the ability to change your flights. You also won’t be able to eligible for complimentary upgrades.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/

This change comes on the heels of other Alaska Airlines news, such as the announcement that the airline is doing away with its price guarantee and increasing the fee to change flight details.

Right now, you can book Saver Fares between San Diego (SAN) and Baltimore (BWI), Salt Lake City (SLC) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR). More travel dates and destinations will be coming soon, so keep your eye on the Alaska Airlines website to snag a bare-bones deal.
