This New Service Will Save Items You Can’t Get Past Airport Security

If you’ve ever been caught at airport security with something you shouldn’t have packed – we’re looking at you, full-size shampoo bottle – then you know how frustrating it can be to be forced to throw it away before being admitted for your flight.

This new service is allowing passengers to save items that would otherwise need to be abandoned, such as bottles of souvenir wine or mistakenly packed scissors. Airport Mailers lets travelers slip their items into a small package right at airport security. The package will then be mailed right to your home.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Of course, there is a small fee to use the service. Each item sent within the U.S. will cost $8 or $9. If you want to send an international package, be prepared to spend $32. Due to their flammable nature, lights cost $14 to ship within the U.S.

Airport Mailers won’t ship anything deemed illegal by the U.S. Postal Service, so no, you can’t mail yourself illicit substances or weapons. Items must also fit within a 6’’ x 9’’ plastic pouch. You can find Airport Mailers at 28 airports around America, inlacing San Francisco International, Las Vegas McCarran, and Dallas-Fort Worth.
