Just 30 minutes away from Downtown Houston, Crocodile Encounter is one of the best-kept secrets in Southeast Texas. This one-of-a-kind zoological park offers a rare opportunity to meet gators, wild hogs, and even giant tortoises face-to-face.
Choose to roam around at your own leisure or opt for a guided tour instead. The latter includes a front-row seat to feeding time, interaction with multiple animals, and even getting your picture taken with a baby gator.
These big guys are one of the most popular attractions. Ancient, majestic beings, tortoises are gentle giants who want nothing more than love and affection.
Food is available for purchase in the gift shop, and it's a surefire way to become the most popular guest. Kids get a kick out of watching the animals surround them and compete for a bite.

Rotational tours begin at 10 a.m. each day, and last entry to the park is an hour before closing. Rates are $20 for adults and $12 for children under 12.
Tours are small group in nature and typically last between 1:15 and 1:45, depending on the animals' behavior. You'll want to allot two hours, just in case.
