These 10 Theaters In Texas Will Give You An Unforgettable Viewing Experience
Whether you prefer to see movies at old-fashioned drive-ins, huge IMAX theaters, or theaters that serve you food and drinks while you watch your movie, we’ve found some unique theaters throughout the state that will give you the experience you’ve been looking for. Here are some of the best theaters, in our humble opinion.
1) Stars & Stripes Drive-In Theatre (Lubbock and New Braunfels)
This is one of the last drive-in theaters left in Texas, and there's even a 50s cafe on the property so you can eat while you watch! The New Braunfels location is open at 6:30 pm nightly, and the Lubbock location is open Friday through Sunday.
2) The Showboat Drive-In (Hockley)
Open every week in the summer from Wednesday through Sunday. They offer two feature films for the price of one, so this makes for a great evening activity for the kids in the summer!
3) Galaxy Drive-In (Ennis)
They open every night at 6pm, and also offer double features for the price of one.
4) Brazos Drive-In Theatre (Granbury)
Open since 1952, this drive-in shows movies every Friday and Saturday, and sometimes Sundays as well. All movies start at dusk, and they offer concessions so you can snack while you watch the movies.
5) Alamo Drafthouse (Various Locations)
Serving nine cities throughout Texas, the Alamo Drafthouse is famous for its consistent high-quality service in regards to both the movies and the food and beverages served. You can look at the menu before the movie starts, and order whatever you desire during the movie as well. Don't forget to order a beer from a local brewery while there as well!
6) Texas Theater (Dallas)
Open since 1931, this is one of the most beloved theaters in the Dallas area. They are open Thursday through Sunday starting at 5:30pm.
7) Studio Movie Grill (Various Locations)
As the name suggests, you can eat and drink while enjoying your movie here. At 11 locations in Texas, take advantage of the in-theater dining and service while watching a movie in the comfy chairs, or sip on cocktails in one of the upscale lounges.
8) iPic Theaters (Austin & Fairview)
This theater offers a premium yet homey experience, with pillow, blankets, full leather recliners, and popcorn, of course. What more could you ask for?!
9) Grand Avenue Theater (Belton)
This is an immaculate full-service theater that has a cafe on the premises with delicious food, and they serve Starbucks coffee if you need an energy boost before the movie starts. They also take reservations if you have a large group, and have discounts during spring break and summer holidays for children.
10) Moody Gardens IMAX Theater (Galveston)
At Moody Gardens, sit back and relax in plush leather chairs while you watch movies about marine life, rainforests, the environment, and other exciting short films. Boasting the largest screen in the world, you will have an unforgettable viewing experience here.
