The Heartwarming Story That Proves There’s No Place Like Texas

Abilene, Texas’ Clay Luthy was deployed fives times – three to Uzbekistan and two to Qatar – before returning to the Lone Star State due to health issues. After undergoing multiple knee surgeries, he wasn’t able to reenlist so instead Luthy applied for a position at Abilene’s Lowe’s Home Improvement store. But Luthy didn’t go to the interview alone. No, he was accompanied by his 10-year-old golden retriever and service dog, Charlotte.

When Luthy arrived he asked the hiring manager if Charlotte would be an issue. “He told me and said, ‘oh no absolutely…we’ve got service dogs that work all throughout Lowe’s.”

Not long after, both Luthy and Charlotte were hired and have since become internet famous after a heartwarming photo of the duo went viral on Sunday:
