The heart and soul of Texas lies within our smallest towns, and that sentiment rings especially true at Christmastime. Here are six tiny towns across the Lone Star State where the holiday season is a big deal, and you’ll want to visit each and every one.

This tiny town tucked away in the Texas Hill Country gives Clark Griswold a run for his money at Christmastime. Each holiday season, the annual Lights Spectacular transforms the courthouse and surrounding trees into a whimsical winter wonderland. The event typically includes fireworks, a parade, hayrides, and many more festivities, most of which have been postponed until next year. All isn't lost, however - you can still enjoy the 1.3-million dazzling lights from the safety and comfort of your vehicle through Sunday, January 3. More information here.

Home to "Whistle Stop Christmas," Cleburne is such a magical place to spend the holidays. All throughout the town, homes, and businesses come alive with lights and decorations galore, and Hulen Park plays host to an array of family-friendly activities. This historic Central Texas town with German roots puts its own unique spin on Christmas. 55 Nights of Fredericksburg Lights, which runs nightly through January 6, features gorgeous holiday lights in the Marktplatz on Main Street. By far the most unique display is the iconic 26-foot-tall German Christmas Pyramid, pictured here on the far-left side. Visitors can also enjoy ice skating, holiday shopping, wine tastings, and several other timeless activities. More information here.

Since 1987, Marshall has been spreading holiday cheer with its annual Wonderland of Lights celebration. It's among the largest holiday festivals in the country, with carriage rides, ice skating, orchestra symphonies, and so much more festive fun. Although some events have been canceled this year, the Christmas magic is no less pervasive. Just seeing the courthouse adorned with thousands of lights has us feeling all warm and cozy inside. Palestine is where you'll find the world-famous Polar Express, a train ride modeled after the iconic holiday film.
