You've probably never even heard of Mason, which is completely understandable given its population of just over 2,000.
Much of Mason's topaz as well as other stones and ancient Indian artifacts can be found on Lindsay Ranch. All you need to bring is a shovel and an adventurous spirit!
You're permitted to dig wherever you please on the ranch, and anything you find is yours for the keeping. Who knows? You just might find a diamond in the rough and end up a few 0s richer.
According to a geologist from UT, the ranch has a greater variety of minerals than anywhere else in the state. In addition to topaz, there's limestone, granite, tourmaline, sandstone, quartz, schist, and even more types that have yet to be identified. Petrified wood and bone, fossils, arrowheads, hand axes, and other artifacts have also been found.
Lindsay Ranch is open from May-September each year. Sitting on over 1000 acres of land, there's plenty of room for families to come on out and explore. Click here for more information about pricing and booking.
