There’s A Rare, Delicious Fruit Growing In Texas For A Limited Time
Have you ever seen a bunch of little orange fruits growing on trees during late spring? If so, chances are they were loquats. These delicious morsels are only around for a limited time, so get your hands on some ASAP!
Every April, trees all around the San Antonio area erupt in a fiery orange spectacle. These fruits, called loquats, are Chinese plums that deserve much more recognition.
The fruits are both sweet and sour, a juxtaposition that renders them impossible to stop eating. High in pectin, they're perfect for jams, jellies, and baked goods.
Eat them raw or in your next culinary experiment to spice things up. To prepare a loquat, simply core it like you would an apple before slicing off the peel and removing any remaining seeds.
So if you'll be in the Alamo City within the next month, be on the lookout for these exotic morsels of deliciousness. And if you're local, stock up before they're all gone until next year!
