These 9 Neighborhoods Just Might Have The Best Christmas Lights In All Of Texas
Driving around to look at Christmas lights is a quintessential holiday pastime, and luckily, Texas has quite a few neighborhoods that go all out. In no particular order, here are some of the best residential light displays in the Lone Star State. Grab some hot cocoa, crank up the festive tunes, and enjoy the ride!

This over-the-top holiday home display gives Clark Griswold a run for his money. With 70,000 lights, a train village, photo-ops, and a mailbox for letters to Santa, it’s a true winter wonderland. Each year, thousands flock to this affluent Houston neighborhood to marvel at the grandiose light displays. The glittering bulbs hang from tree branches, frame doorways, snake along rooftops, and blanket perfectly manicured shrubs for a spellbinding holiday extravaganza. Each house is seemingly more opulent than the last! Disclaimer: you'll likely be sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic for a while, so plan on bringing some snacks and hot cocoa for the road. Deerfield is a Plano neighborhood known for its spectacular Christmas light displays. No two houses are alike, with each family showcasing their own unique perspective on what it means to "deck the halls." Some of the displays are full-blown shows set to music, while others rely on whimsical lawn decor to wow visitors. The lights are on nightly through December 30, from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. on weekends. With an incredible drive-thru display boasting over 300,000 lights, it's hard to believe Christmas Ranch is located on the grounds of a private residence. Snowmen, reindeer, and other classic holiday symbols mingle with offbeat decorations like dinosaurs in Santa hats for an elaborate hodgepodge you'd only find in Texas. Although we're a little late for the annual Festivus celebration, which took place on the 12th, this elegant Fort Worth neighborhood will be lit up all throughout December. The displays are incredibly tasteful and promise to make you long for the days of yore. More information here.

Just outside of San Antonio, the City of Windcrest holds a (friendly) Christmas light contest. Prizes are awarded in various categories such as "best block," "most creative display," etc. We honestly don't know how winners are chosen, as every house is amazing! More information here.

New this year, the Grapevine Santa House is yet another reason to visit the "Christmas Capital of Texas." Louie Murillo has adorned his home with hundreds of Santas - you may even run into the big man in red himself! Since 2008, the Franck family has dazzled Space City with their annual Christmas light show. Synchronized to music, this epic spectacle lasts about 45 minutes - plenty of time to bring the holiday spirit to life! For almost two decades, the Dodd family has poured lots of sweat, money, and passion into their Christmas light display. People come from all over to watch the two-hour animated light show, which features around 45 songs. Come see what all the hype is about from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 6 p.m. until midnight Friday-Saturday. Address: 62 West Knightsbridge Drive, Conroe, TX 77385.
