The 82-foot-tall John Jacob Observation Tower features two decks that showcase sweeping panoramic views of not only the park, but the entire Houston skyline and even the San Jacinto Monument.
A mere 15 minutes from downtown Houston lies a hidden gem that's among the most underrated places in Texas: Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center. This oasis is teeming with life, featuring several different habitats that support a wide range of plant and animal life.
Visitors can embark on two miles of trails that showcase everything from woods to wetlands. One trail even leads past a staggering 28 hatchery ponds! Other activities include fishing, boating, and canoeing/kayaking.
The tower features two observation decks. One is accessible via both stairs and elevator, and the other is accessed by ramp. Take your pick, and prepare to be amazed!
