The Guadalupe Peak Texas Highpoint Trail Is The Single Most Dangerous Hike In All Of Texas
If you want to live life on the edge, hike the Guadalupe Peak Texas Highpoint Trail located near Salt Flat, Texas. It’s about nine miles out and back. This hike is known for its stunning views and treacherous ascent toward the sky. It’s rated as difficult and is known for being a real challenge. It’s not impossible, though, and if you come prepared, you’ll enjoy the experience!

The entrance fee is $10 per person. Or, you can purchase an annual pass for $35.

You can expect stunning views at the top. You'll also encounter changing plant and animal life as you hike up in elevation.

Past hikers have warned that the beginning is the steepest part.

When you get here, you'll be at the highest point in Texas: 8,749 feet in elevation!

It can get pretty windy as you ascend the summit.

Here, a bridge protects hikers from falling off the edge. Be extra careful along the edges of other cliffs.

Depending on your experience, it may take shorter or longer.

Because of the length of this trail, it is also suggested that you bring along some snacks to keep you fueled up.

There isn't a lot of shade at the beginning. Once you reach the pine forest area, there will be some relief from the sun.
