Grapevine Hills Trail In Texas Leads To One Of The Most Scenic Views In The State
The Lone Star State is a big, beautiful place. There’s a lot to explore here. Seeing all that we have to offer could take a full lifetime. One great way to get out and see some of the gorgeous surroundings is to enjoy some of the many trails in Texas. Between our state, local, and national parks, we’ve got countless hikes of varying difficulty to enjoy. Big Bend National Park is one of the most popular places for hiking in Texas. With more than 800,000 acres of preserved wilderness, this place is packed with wonderful trails. As you can imagine, many of them are on the tougher side and better options for experienced hikers, but even novices can find great trails here. One that’s got some really unique features is the Grapevine Hills Trail to Balanced Rock.
Note that the road to get to the trail, Grapevine Spring, can be difficult in some cars, so it's best to drive up in an off-road truck or SUV. You can also park the car and walk the last little bit if you have a smaller, less capable car.
The trail to get to Balanced Rock is only about two miles. It's fairly easy, with just a few spots where you have to navigate over rocks, mostly over the last quarter mile. Most of the trail is wide and sandy.
