The Texas Ghost Story That Will Leave You Absolutely Baffled
With how big Texas is, it’s no surprise that it’s full of sinister ghost stories. But what might be a surprise to some are the little-known hauntings that get forgotten over time by those who don’t live in the area.
White Rock Lake is one such place. You can explore it today…just be sure to stay away after dark – that is, unless you want to meet the lady in white.
The legend goes like this: One night, a pair of young newlyweds were out for a nighttime drive near the lake and decided to park their car in a romantic spot near the water overlooking the boathouse.
It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, so any sudden noise would be immediately apparent. When the couple heard a sloshing sound, they abruptly looked up just in time to see a beautiful woman in a white gown emerging from the watery depths.
The woman, soaked from head to toe, approached the vehicle and begged for help, claiming she had fallen out of her boat after it sprung a leak. The couple took pity on her and offered her a ride home.
After driving for a while and noticing the woman was being rather quiet, the wife turned around and noticed that the backseat was empty except for a puddle of water.
A little research showed there had been a suicide on White Rock Lake a few years back. A woman wearing a white gown drowned herself, and by the time police arrived, she was beyond resuscitation.
Ever since her death, many people have reported encounters similar to that of the couple. The woman is always wearing a white dress, is soaking wet, and vanishes as soon as the car drives off. The only trace ever left behind is a wet spot on the seat.
