The Largest Crystal-Clear Lagoon In Texas Is Officially Open To The Public
Texas is full of great swimming holes, but none quite compare to the splendor of the “crystal-clear lagoon” at Lago Mar. This pristine oasis is the largest pool of its kind in the country, and it’s officially open to the public.
The self-proclaimed "largest crystal-clear lagoon in the country," this tropical oasis is part of Texas City's new Lago Mar development. The pool is officially open to the public for its "Summer Lagoonfest," a two-month-long celebration featuring a variety of activities.
Inflatable obstacle courses, kayaks, sailboats, paddleboards, food trucks and more will all be part of the festival. Tickets start at $10 for children 13 years and under and $15 for those 13 years and older. Children 2 and under get in free.
Eventually, the lagoon will include a separate pay-for-access beach club, two-story swim-up bar and kid’s beach with water features. It's just one part of a 100-acre mixed-use entertainment district that is still under construction.
COVID-19 precautions include a face covering requirement in high-traffic areas and a limited capacity. Staff members also have to wear masks in addition to undergoing health screenings. Sanitizing procedures are in place, as well.
Address: 3240 Lago Mar Boulevard, Texas City, TX. Public access is from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, and tickets can be purchased online in advance.
