The Crazy One-Of-A-Kind Store You Can Only Find In Texas
Austin is full of odd things – where do you think the slogan “Keep Austin Weird” comes from? There’s never a “routine” day in our capital city because you never know what you might happen upon as you walk through the streets. One store rises above the rest and is sure to catch your eye on a stroll down Congress Ave: Uncommon Objects. A single glance at the cowboy riding a bunny on top of the sign is enough to draw passersby in for a look around. From antiques to random oddities, this shop is truly one-of-a-kind and unique to Texas.
From old-fashioned knick-knacks to vintage cameras and typewriters to taxidermy and everything in between, this hodge-podge store of stuff will pique the interest of everyone who enters.
Taxidermy abounds throughout the store, but the scenes are arranged so tastefully that elegant would almost be an appropriate word. I'm sure y'all all recognize this famous bunny who's probably very late for his important date by now...
The store might seem like a game of I spy with its random assortment of objects, but it's an organized chaos - almost to the point of looking like a museum.
Antiquing is all about the "hunt" for a diamond in the rough. So if you're willing to explore the vast array of strange paraphernalia at Uncommon Objects, you just might find what you're looking for (and plenty of things you didn't know you needed).
This unique store is an attraction in and of itself, so even if this kind of activity isn't your thing, the shop's eccentricity alone is enough to make it an obligatory destination on any trip to Austin.
