The Texas Highway Department found a huge surprise in Spring of 1963. During what seemed to be an ordinary day of gathering ground samples, they discovered something incredible. Beneath the rock was a huge cavern full of miraculous fossils, wildlife, and scenery. The Inner Space Cavern opened to the public in 1966 and has been dazzling visitors ever since.
