We don’t have beaches IN Austin, but we sure can take a road trip to one! The great thing about beaches near Austin is that they’re usually great to go for a swim almost any time of the year because it stays pretty warm in the Lone Star State. Skip the pool and head to a REAL body of water this summer.

1. Go for a horseback ride at South Padre Island beach.

2. Check out that stunning sunset over Galveston Beach.

3. A peaceful and serene view in Port Arthur.

4. Corpus Christi is a small and quaint city with impressive everything...especially that shoreline!

5. Port Aransas is a great place for some successful deep sea fishing!

7. North Padre Island (North of South Padre) gives out some "Texas-sized" waves to surf.

8. Crystal Beach is located in Galveston. The shoreline is dotted with adorable and colorful homes that you can rent out to catch a sunrise like this.

9. Go for a sunset bird cruise at Rockport Beach.

10. Just have some plain ol' fun in the water at Jamaica Beach in Freeport, TX.

11. Port O'Connor is a great place for families...especially if you love small towns.
