Finding a beautiful place in the gorgeous Tennessee mountains isn’t hard, but it does tend to get a bit difficult when you’re looking for a quiet place to hide out for awhile. You have your choice between tiny towns set in small valleys or busy cities with strips of museums and souvenir shops, but why not take the first option? A quiet vacation away from the crazy? We stumbled across the darling Wears Valley this summer, and we can’t seem to stay away!
Wears Valley is a tiny, quiet east Tennessee community that's made up of a handful of locals and just as many tourists. Tucked high in the Great Smoky Mountains, this small mountain town is well worth a visit this summer.
The community gets its name from Samuel Wears, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, who originally built a fort at the entrance to the Smokies. It's now well-regarded as the city of Pigeon Forge, but we still have a soft spot for the beauty of the valley below.

Rife with cabins and local character, Wears Valley somehow manages to go unnoticed in its tiny Eastern mountain valley. Here you'll find great food at some fabulous local restaurants, a small stretch of shopping and a whole lot of beauty.

It's hard not to be overwhelmed with how gorgeous the are is, what with the Great Smoky Mountains surrounding it. Wears Valley even has its own entrance to the park, although it's not considered "official." It's actually considered a secret entrance! The more you know.
It's beautiful in Wears Valley, Tennessee, no matter the season. We'll take the green grasses of summertime and the chilly frost of the winter.
We have to say, though - autumn sure is a stunner here in Tennessee. You really can't beat the gorgeous colors of fall.
We'd recommend finding a home or a cabin in the valley if you're looking for a quiet place to vacation as opposed to the flurry of activity in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We're in love with Wears Valley, and we're positive you will be, too!
