Short Springs State Area is made up of 420 lush, beautifully wooded acres in Coffee County, Tennessee. It's known for its long, meandering hiking trails and water features like gurgling streams and waterfalls.
Although the waterfalls are the most popular feature in Short Springs State Natural Area, the park has a reputation as one of the best places to view wildflowers in the springtime. There's really nothing more tranquil or rejuvenating than a hike amidst the blooms!
There are multiple hiking trails, with some of the most popular providing views of Machine Falls, the Upper and Lower Busby Falls, and Bobo Creek. You'll want to watch your step during the wet months, as it can get muddy and slipper on the trail.
Visit for a view of lushly forested ravines and watery cascades, come to take photos of the cascades, or search for the birds that make their homes high in the trees. There is no hunting or fishing in the Short Springs State Area, as it is a protected preserve.
