Tennessee is rife with natural beauty, but there’s something about the state’s numerous waterfalls that really leaves us in awe. You’ll find them most commonly on the eastern side of the state, though the mid-state also has its fair share of natural water wonder. Burgess Falls State Park is located on the Falling Water River and is known for its incredible beauty no matter the time of year. Learn more about it below!
Burgess Falls State Park is a day-use pak that boasts four waterfalls. Although there are falls higher than the eponymous Burgess Falls, from which the park gets its name, it is still a stunning sight.
Burgess Falls is a cascade waterfall that gushes 136-feet down into a limestone gorge. The cliffside that hems in the falls make the entire experience magical and entrancing.

Fed by Falling Water River, Burgess Falls has a series of waterfront hiking trails to reach the waterfall itself. It must be noted that most trails are difficult, and that bikes, horses, and other animals are not permitted.
The most popular trail is the River Trail, coming in at roughly 0.8 miles and 1.5-miles round-trip. You'll see a series of gorgeous water features along the way, including beautiful views of Burgess Falls.
No matter the time of year, this is the kind of sight that really makes you weepy. The majesty of nature is so untenable, so stunning, that no season can dampen its beauty.
We'd recommend hiking during a dry day, and visiting Burgess Falls when the autumn leaves are bright. It makes for a great hike with plenty of photo ops!
