This Spring Is Forecast To Be The Most Active Tornado Season Tennessee Has Seen In Years
Tennessee has already seen its fair share of tornadoes this year, especially in the mid-state. March devastated areas of Nashville, Mt. Juliet and Cookeville, and according to several tornado forecasts there just might be a 45% chance of an above-average tornado season throughout the United States. The Southeast is slated to experience an uptick in stormy weather, and although the Midwest will as well, Tennesseeans may want to be cautious.

Tennessee is a beautiful state that's known for its hospitality and wide-open spaces. It's the kind of state you visit to indulge in stunning lakeside views, where you wander the Cumberland River or go hiking amidst the craggy peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Unfortunately, the state has seen its fair share of tornadoes. Although "tornado alley" itself stretches through Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and part of Colorado, there are a few states that have been given an honorary mention. Tennessee is among them.

The spring of 2020 is slated to bring more storms than average, bolstering a more active tornado season than in recent years. Tennessee has experienced quite a few large storm outbreaks, with some of the best know storm cells striking the state in 2008, 1998, and 1974.

The storm clouds may rage, but you can't keep the citizens of Tennessee down. As recently of March 2020, when the mid-state was railed by a massive hurricane that swept through the heart of Tennessee, the community rallied behind those in need.

Tennesseans know the weight that tornadoes carry for the community, but no one is left alone in the wake of a storm. This spring, make sure to keep an eye out for a highly active tornado season.

Both April and May are slated to have increased levels of storm weather, so make sure you stay prepared and informed throughout the season. Stay safe and well, dear Tennessee!
