Tennessee Has A Roller Coaster Road And You Need To Drive On It
The Tail of the Dragon is one of the most exhilarating and adrenaline inducing rides of Tennessee, caught up in the mountains on the east side of the state. We decided to take you on a trip with us, through the gorgeous foliage of of the springtime season. There’s a reason this road is infamous, and we got to the bottom of it. Care to learn a bit more about the Tail of the Dragon?
The Tail of the Dragon consists of 11 miles through the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee National Forest - and 318 curves.
Famed for its fabulous, thrill-inducing twists and turns, it has become the number one motorcycle and sports car road in the United States. Thousands of thrillseekers make their way through the pass during the warmer months.
It's not just for the crazy few that love to drive fast, you know. You can take your own Honda Civic and enjoy a half hour of beauty. It will be COOLER with a fast car, but we understand if you're still waiting on that midlife crisis.
You'll want to be very careful if you decide to make the drive, however. There have been wild animals on the road, as well as ice and snow that make for a nerve-wracking drive. The Tail of the Dragon has been traversed by Tennesseans for years, though you may meet folks from all over the world. It's a unique place!
No one lives on the roads, there are no driveways or business spots to pull up to. Nope, it's you and the road. 318 curves, every single one of them different - there are a few places to pull off and take in the views, though. They come highly recommended!
It’s quite the drive, if you’re willing to take it. Continue the fun with
