The One Tennessee Town Everyone Must Visit Come Fall
Tellico Plains is located in East Tennessee, and has become known for its beautiful autumnal foliage and stunning southern backdrop. We’d recommend visiting during October or early November, before the days get too dark and the sun still shines on all shades of red, orange and yellow. If you haven’t been to Tellico Plains you should probably make a plan for this fall. As September fades, the beauty of fall becomes so much more tangible.
Tellico Plains is known as, "The Little Town with the Big Back Yard." It is the gateway to the famed Cherohala Skyway, and the beautiful Cherokee National Forest. No matter how tiny, the sweet town known as Tellico Plains welcomes thousands of tourists a year.
We'd recommend visiting during autumn or the Christmas season. The local "Cookie Caper" is a fundraiser held every Christmas, and fall is the perfect time to snag a seasonal pastry at a local bakery. The simple life is prevalent, here.
As stated before the Cherokee National Forest is in Tellico Plain's backyard. At more than 640,000 acres, the forest is perfect for hikers, campers, folks who are looking to cycle in the well-maintained, strikingly beautiful natural oasis.
Tellico Plains has also been designated by the Southeastern Foot Trails Coalition as an official "Trail Town." It's where you can stay if you're looking to visit the Coker Creek Gold Festival, a fabulous autumn festival, or if you're hoping for a space to stay before heading out to Bald River Falls.

So we mentioned a, "Trail Town" a bit earlier...but what exactly does that mean? It is a program that is meant to promote hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, and all other sorts of outdoor activities in Tennessee. Tellico plains has more than one hundred of hikeable miles just outside of the city.
Take a drive, take a hike, fall in love. This kind of autumnal hiking trail is the best place to be during the fall.
