The Downhill Summer Tubing Adventure In Tennessee That’s Unlike Any Other
Summertime doesn’t usually mean “tubing,” especially when we’re talking about Gatlinburg, a town in the vicinity of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Known for cozy cabins, weekend getaways and miles and miles of hiking trails, Gatlinburg has long been a favorite of Tennesseeans and tourists alike, Ober Gatlinburg even more so. The exciting amusement park has even more up its sleeve come summer 2019, though. Check it out below!

Ober Gatlinburg has been East Tennessee's favorite winter sports destination for over 50 years, but this summer, something new is coming to the mountain that's sure to draw crowds in the warmer months.

For those who don't know or haven't visited, Ober Gatlinburg is a ski mountain and amusement park sitting on the peaks above Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains. Folks come from all over to enjoy the mountain's skiing, tubing, and absolutely breathtaking views.

For the folks out there that love to tube in the snow, Ober Gatlinburg has some incredibly exciting news: starting in the summer of 2019, they're going to have a summer tubing hill!

The summer tubing hill will feature four 250-foot lanes made of synthetic material that will make you feel like you're gliding down on the snow. How fun is that?!

The best part is the synthetic materials are all completely eco-friendly. They're easily removed as soon as the snow starts flying in the winter so you can enjoy your snow tubing as soon as the powder hits.

Of course, Ober Gatlinburg already has plenty of summer options for you warm weather folks. The Alpine Slide is basically a sled on tracks that takes riders on a winding trail through the forests of the Smoky Mountains.

There's also the Ski Mountain Coaster, the highest coaster in elevation east of the Mississippi river!

Even without snow, the trip up the mountain on the Aerial Tramway provides stunning views as it climbs 11,000 feet up the mountain from downtown Gatlinburg to the amusement park.

Ober Gatlinburg is open every day of the year (except for April 27th through May 7th), so you and your family are sure to find a time that fits your schedule to check out the slopes, whether it's winter or summer. Be sure to check the Ober Gatlinburg Website for hours on a specific day, as weather can affect the hours. We'll see you on the slopes! Address: 1310 Ski Mountain Road, Gatlinburg, TN 37738.
