The town of Townsend, Tennesse can be found in the heart of Blount County. It's a tiny town that is home to roughly 450 folks and is known as one of the three "Gateways" to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The land was once occupied by local Native Americans, and the Townsend Visitors Center seeks to honor and tell the stories of Tennessee's first inhabitants.
Folks visit for the stunning colors in the fall and the shock of beauty found in the stretch of a mountain against the sky.
