Here Is The Most Remote, Isolated Spot In Tennessee And It’s Positively Breathtaking
Watauga Lake is tucked up in the mountains of east Tennessee, but it’s still one of the most beautiful spots in the state. You won’t get the brunt of local travelers, you’ll never have to worry about the tourists or the strange restaurant chains. Naw, Watauga is the real deal – just take a look.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. Watauga Lake is located in Butler, Tennessee, a secluded gem up in the Appalachian Mountains. The water is peaceful, the country is stunning, and the protected forest completely breathtaking.

It's just a stone's throw from Boone, North Carolina, although we have the honor of claiming it.

Construction of the TVA bound lake began in 1942, and was finished in 1946.

Here, you can see the dam. It is the only dam that is not made of concrete that remains in the state.

Eerily enough, the original town of Butler is at the bottom of the lake. It was flooded out, but the town was rebuilt and bears the slogan, "The Town that Wouldn't Drown."

Now a popular spot for vacationers, the community is tight and the people are kind. You have to form a bond if you're pretty much in the middle of nowhere, right? Right. Even though it may be the best place in the state...
