Reelfoot Lake itself is the only naturally formed lake in the state of Tennessee, having been cut deep in the earth as a result of the New Madrid Earthquakes in the early 19th century. It's since become a top spot for tourists and locals to experience the beauty of Tennessee's expansive wilderness.
At just barely a half-mile, the Reelfoot Lake Boardwalk is a perfect place to bring kids and older family members. It's a lightly trafficked loop trail that will take you out to the very edge of the lake, boasting views of the waterfront and the submerged cypress trees within.

It may be hard to call this zero elevation gain loop a "hike," but it's the perfect way to take a walk out in nature. The loop is friendly for families, but not for Fido. Make sure to leave your dog at home!
